Cindy graduated in 1994 with a masters in agency counseling
from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. While completing her
master’s degree, she worked at Richard H. Young Mental Health
Hospital, also in Kearney.
Her counseling career spans 14 years. Before opening her
private practice, she was a therapist at the Grace Counseling
Center in Omaha, NE. The first four years she was also an
Associate Dean of Student Services.
Cindy’s personal life experiences allowed her the opportunity
of growing through painful situations. She realized the benefits
of counseling and group settings. It is her desire to give that
same hope to others who struggle with painful life situations.
She sees the importance of clinically sound counseling with
faith based insights. Her personal belief system sees Jesus Christ
as Lord and Savior. Her theme verse is Romans 12:2 which states
that we are not to be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of our minds, so that we can know the will of God,
that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Professionally, she respects people of all gender, religious,
ethnic and cultural backgrounds. She works mainly with adults,
couples, families and groups. Her specific areas of experience
are: anxiety, depression and sexual abuse. Cindy also addresses
client compulsion and addiction issues. Some of these include:
alcohol, anger, eating disorders, relational boundaries and sexual
addiction.
Cindy is a motivated therapist. She encourages her clients to
see counseling as an investment in personal growth. She also
reminds clients that she does her best to “work herself out of a
job”, but she lets them determine when that is done.
Cindy and her husband, DuWayne, have three amazing married
children and their awesome spouses! They also have three adventurous
grand sons and two adorable grand daughters!
